Yang Fire

Yang Fire is the sun: total, impartial, impossible to ignore. It does not choose who to shine on. Of the ten day masters this is the most naturally visible and the least capable of subtlety.

You are generous in a way that costs you nothing to give and a great deal to sustain. You warm people indiscriminately, which makes you widely liked and rarely known — the sun is close to everyone and intimate with no one.

What you hide is that the brightness is not effortless. Yang Fire burns fuel. Most Yang Fire people have a private collapse cycle they have never mentioned to anyone who knows them as the cheerful one.

You are demonstrative, fast, and generous early. You fall visibly. The difficulty is constancy: the sun rises for everyone, and partners eventually notice that the warmth they thought was specific to them is how you are with the room. You need someone who is not threatened by your visibility and who asks you, directly, how you actually are.

You belong in front of people — teaching, performing, selling, leading, anything where presence is the product. You are a poor fit for detailed, invisible, long-cycle work. You do your best work when someone is watching and your worst when nobody is.

Water quenches Fire. In a chart, Water against Yang Fire is pressure, scrutiny and criticism — and unusually for the ten, you feel it publicly. Excess Earth also drains you, because Earth is what Fire produces: obligations, admin, the accumulated weight of things you agreed to while being enthusiastic.

Wood to feed the fire — new input, new material, people who bring you things. Yang Fire starved of Wood gets loud and hollow.

This is general to Yang Fire. What your chart actually needs depends on whether your day master is strong or weak, which depends on the other seven characters — and on which ten-year cycle you are standing in now.

Yang Fire is the most common day master among performers, and among people who are exhausting to live with and wonderful to know. But a day master is one character out of eight.
