Yang Fire
병 · Byeong · the sun
You cannot enter a room quietly. You have stopped trying.
Your is the upper character of your day pillar — the one character in the chart that is you rather than your circumstances. Yang Fire is Fire in its yang temper: visibility, warmth, the impulse to be seen.
Character
Yang Fire is the sun: total, impartial, impossible to ignore. It does not choose who to shine on. Of the ten day masters this is the most naturally visible and the least capable of subtlety.
You are generous in a way that costs you nothing to give and a great deal to sustain. You warm people indiscriminately, which makes you widely liked and rarely known — the sun is close to everyone and intimate with no one.
What you hide is that the brightness is not effortless. Yang Fire burns fuel. Most Yang Fire people have a private collapse cycle they have never mentioned to anyone who knows them as the cheerful one.
In love
You are demonstrative, fast, and generous early. You fall visibly. The difficulty is constancy: the sun rises for everyone, and partners eventually notice that the warmth they thought was specific to them is how you are with the room. You need someone who is not threatened by your visibility and who asks you, directly, how you actually are.
At work
You belong in front of people — teaching, performing, selling, leading, anything where presence is the product. You are a poor fit for detailed, invisible, long-cycle work. You do your best work when someone is watching and your worst when nobody is.
What drains you
Water quenches Fire. In a chart, Water against Yang Fire is pressure, scrutiny and criticism — and unusually for the ten, you feel it publicly. Excess Earth also drains you, because Earth is what Fire produces: obligations, admin, the accumulated weight of things you agreed to while being enthusiastic.
What your chart needs
Wood to feed the fire — new input, new material, people who bring you things. Yang Fire starved of Wood gets loud and hollow.
This is general to Yang Fire. What your chart actually needs depends on whether your day master is , which depends on the other seven characters — and on which you are standing in now.
A caveat worth reading
Yang Fire is the most common day master among performers, and among people who are exhausting to live with and wonderful to know. But a day master is one character out of eight. Two Yang Fire people born in different seasons read almost nothing alike — the same tree in and in deep winter is not the same tree. Everything on this page is the starting point of a reading, not the reading.
Is Yang Fire actually your day master?
It is decided by the day you were born, corrected to true solar time — and if you were born near midnight, most calculators get it wrong. Ours shows its working.
