Combination

합 · 合

Two characters that bind to each other, often producing a third element between them.

Certain stem pairs and branch pairs attract. When they meet, they can lock together — sometimes generating a new element, sometimes simply neutralising each other so that neither acts freely.

Combination is usually read as harmony, but a bound character is also a character that has stopped doing its job, which is not always what the chart needed.
