Where can you get a free birth chart reading?

By

Find a free Western birth-chart interpretation, distinguish it from a chart drawing, and check what the explanation includes.

For a free Western birth-chart interpretation, Astrodienst’s AstroClick Portrait is one place to begin: you select chart elements to read their interpretations. If you only need the diagram, its free chart-drawing tools are a different starting point. Neither should be mistaken for a live consultation.

These first-party offerings were checked on October 7, 2026. Features and access requirements may change. If you meant a Korean chart, Saju Garden offers a free Saju chart and computed reading, using a different system from Western astrology.

Choose an interpretation or a drawing

AstroClick Portrait explains that clicking elements of the natal chart opens interpretive text. Its introductory page directs new visitors to enter birth data and create a user profile. It also explains that the main text was written with younger readers in mind, with many entries linking to an adult interpretation.

By contrast, Astrodienst’s free chart catalogue lists a basic chart drawing and an extended selection of chart settings. A wheel with symbols may be exactly what you want, but it is not automatically a written explanation of those symbols.

Your immediate goalWhat to look for
See calculated placementsA labeled chart and visible birth inputs
Understand an individual placementInterpretive text tied to that exact chart element
Understand the chart as a wholeAn explanation of how features relate, with limits made clear
Ask follow-up questionsAn explicitly offered conversation, rather than assuming one is included

What a useful free explanation should make clear

You should be able to tell which placement the paragraph concerns, what the terminology means, and which statements are traditional interpretations. A generic paragraph about your Sun sign does not explain every part of a natal chart.

The TimePassages manual documents chart components such as planets, signs, houses and aspects. You do not need all of them explained at once. Start with one label and check whether the prose actually refers to it. Our birth-chart introduction explains the basic document.

Do not hide an unknown birth time

If the time is missing or approximate, say so in the tool’s supported fields and check how it handles that uncertainty. Avoid reading an assumed ascendant as established fact. The guide to a chart without an exact birth time identifies the questions to ask.

For a fictional beginner, the best first result might be a diagram plus one explained placement. Buying a longer report would not fix a birth-time assumption that was never disclosed.

Decide what the free result did for you

In Pew’s October 2024 survey, 28% of U.S. adults consulted astrology or a horoscope at least annually. The original Pew report measures participation among 9,593 adults, not the accuracy or usefulness of free chart services.

Write down one term you now understand and one question that remains. If the next step asks for payment, check the actual scope and terms before continuing. You can also stop with the explanation you already have. For other kinds of free experiences, our free fortune-reading guide compares Saju, tarot and Western chart starting points.
