What you get when the birth hour is unknown — three pillars instead of four.

Plenty of people do not know their birth time. It is not a dead end: the year, month and day pillars are all fully determined without it, which means your day master, your element balance and your entire ten-year cycle structure are exact.

What is lost is the hour pillar, which traditionally speaks to later life, children and what you leave behind. Roughly three quarters of a reading survives.

Be sceptical of any service that asks you to guess. A guessed hour does not produce an approximate chart; it produces a confident wrong one.
