The start of spring, around 4 February — the real beginning of the Saju year.

The Saju year does not turn on 1 January, and it does not turn on Lunar New Year either. It turns at Ipchun.

If you were born in late January or early February, your year pillar may belong to the previous year — and a calculator that gets this wrong gets your entire chart wrong, not just one character. Someone born 3 February 2024 is a Water Rabbit year; someone born 5 February 2024 is a Wood Dragon year.
